- Can anybody solve my A500 problem?
-
- Firstly, I have an A500 with a GVP series II controller, no accelerator,
- 5MB on the GVP board, a Guru ROM, and a 1 GB Quantum Fireball in the GVP.
-
- As of recently, my computer runs for about 5 minutes (more or less), then
- it will crash. Trying to reset may cause horizontal purple lines on the
- screen, or just a purple screen, or a black screen. Once I had vertical
- green bars. Sometimes the computer will guru after a few minutes of use,
- and after a few more minutes will crash as dexcribed above. Once the
- computer has crashed, no amount of resetting will fix it, and I have to
- turn it off for a few minutes.
-
- Is this possibly a virus (I don't think so)
- Could it be a blown CIA or other "cheap" thing
- Could it be faulty RAM chips (again, I don't think so)
- Could it be my hard drive (I really don't think so)
- Could it be my GVP controller (I doubt it, but I recently disconnected my
- GVP board, and booted Superfrog, left it running for 30 minutes, and my
- machine didn't crash)
-
- The puzzling thing is that my computer works PERFECTLY fine for a few
- minutes before crashing.
-
- Also, the crashes seem not to be triggered by anything, but just happen
- whenever they feel like it, ie during eagle/hippoplayer, simcity,
- graphics programs, anything really. I haven't played games for a while,
- so I don't know if it would happen with them.
